Ken Exton

Ken Exton first picked up a pair of drum sticks at the age of seven when his Dad bought him his first drum kit and was soon grooving along with his Dad who played jazz boogie woogie piano in their front room in Cheshunt.

At the age of 14 Ken attended the National Jazz youth Orchestra summer school London where he had one to one tuition with jazz drummer Alan Jackson and also had the opportunity to play with the NYJO big band. Ken later went on in the late '70s to play for North London Rock band Frakah winning the London heat of the Melody Maker 'Folk Rock' contest. Frakah went on to record at London' Round House Studios in Chalk Farm Road. Just on the cusp of making it big, Frakah folded when front man Jools Cooper (The Rockets) moved to Spain to pursue his music career.

In the early 1980s Ken played with working bands Onyx and the Len Sparks Jazz quintet, playing pubs, hotels and clubs around the south east. In the '90s and beyond Ken has been the drummer with a number of local cover bands including, 'Bite', 'Loose cannon' and for the last 6 years (and currently) the power house behind the successful North London alternative rock band 'Bizarre Fish'.

Alongside this, Ken has recently joined up with virtuoso musician Paul 'Smeds' (currently also playing in the pop/rock band The Rivals) to form the band 'Red Town' for another chapter in his drumming career.

Ken plays a Mapex Orion Series Drum Kit with Zildjain Cymbals.
